Usage of blockchain technology and smart contracts for IoT devices

The blockchain platform Ethereum offers the possibility that decentralized transactions and smartcontracts are made. This process can also be realized by autonomously acting IoT devices. In orderto act autonomously, these IoT devices need to act under certain authorization rules which need tobe specified.

The idea of the thesis is to develop the methods and procedures for establishing smart contracts byIoT devices.

Further, in the business-related part of the thesis, use cases and the implication of the technologyfor different industries should be developed (e.g. autonomously parking cars paying for the parkingspace). Relevant possibilities for the emergence of new business models and the threats for existingbusiness models have to be outlined.
